Squamish Waldorf School offers an inclusive, values based community and the opportunity to help us nurture a premier pre-K to Grade 8 Waldorf school where student experience is at the centre of our holistic education. Located in the heart of BC’s sea to sky country, Squamish Waldorf school is in its fourteenth year and is growing apace with its locale. Our strategic plan has set a goal for the school to move to a new, purpose built facility by 2021, and the principal will be a key member of the team that will make this happen.

 

The principal brings leadership and support to the pedagogical aspects of the Squamish Waldorf School. S/he makes proposals, and is part of the decision-making process with faculty and board in areas related to pedagogy, financial/legal, planning, safety, and human resources areas. S/he collaborates with the business administrator in making decisions about the day-to-day operations of the school, while adhering to the existing policies and procedures. The principal actively participates in the healthy functioning of the school, including aspects of recruiting and retention. Furthermore, with the building of a new school on the horizon the principal will be active in fundraising and internal and external communications.

Administrators are competitively compensated and receive tuition benefits for their children. Candidates must have excellent leadership and administrative skills, a strong business sense, strong interpersonal and public communication skills, experience with human resources and a deep understanding and commitment to Waldorf education. Candidates must be motivated, determined, flexible, and creative. Requirements include a BC teaching certificate (or equivalent) and Waldorf training.

Kindergarten Assistant

The Squamish Waldorf School is seeking a kindergarten assistant teacher who is interested in working with Waldorf teaching methods. The school offers a strong community spirit and the opportunity to help us build a thriving and healthy school where your input, enthusiasm and talents will be welcomed and appreciated.

The kindergarten class size is between 16 to 20 children. The job will entail supporting the current kindergarten lead teacher 5 days a week from 8 am to 4 pm.

Teachers are competitively compensated and receive tuition benefits for their children. Candidates must have some knowledge of Waldorf education pedagogy. We are looking for a person who has strong interpersonal skills with children and adults, has patience, flexibility and commitment. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to work well within a team.

ECE Special Needs Support Workers

There are two positions available for a Special Needs Support Worker; one will assist a child with special needs in the kindergarten classroom (8:45–1:00 with a potential for more afternoon hours). The second position is part time, 2 days per week from 8:45 to 1 pm.

Candidates must have some knowledge of Waldorf education pedagogy, and strong interpersonal and communication skills. Considerable knowledge of the needs of children with developmental difficulties is essential. ECE certificate and/or child care related training is an asset along with one or more courses in special needs education or equivalent workshops in child development and disabilities. Sign language is also beneficial.

Part-Time French Teacher

Squamish Waldorf School is seeking a part time French teacher who is interested in working with Waldorf methods. We offer small classes, a strong community spirit and the opportunity to help create a thriving and healthy school where your input, enthusiasm and talents are welcomed and appreciated.

This part-time position offers competitive compensation and tuition benefits for children of employees. Candidates must be experienced, motivated, determined, flexible, creative, and committed. Requirements include a BC Teaching Certificate, fluency in French and English, and a willingness to work with Waldorf methods to deliver a French curriculum. The preferred candidate will have some Waldorf background and/or experience working in a Waldorf setting.

Violin Teacher

Seeking a part-time violin teacher for Grades 4-7. Squamish Waldorf School offers small classes, a strong community spirit and the opportunity to help us create a thriving and healthy school where your input, enthusiasm and talents are welcomed and appreciated. This part-time position offers competitive compensation and tuition benefits for children of employees. Candidates must be experienced, motivated, determined, flexible, creative, and committed. Requirements include a music degree and group teaching experience, and a willingness to work with Waldorf methods to deliver a music curriculum. Preferred candidates will have a BC teaching certificate.
