Grades 2-3 visited C-Dar Farm in Paradise Valley, preparing their field to sow spring rye, which they will harvest in spring. They raked, shovelled and picked stones. Finally, they dragged a plow to smooth over the earth and make it ready for next week’s planting. Their teamwork throughout the process was wonderful to witness.

Establishing a strong connection to nature is a cornerstone of Waldorf education. Not only does it encourage hands-on exploration, experiencing where our food comes from – and how – deepens children’s understanding of sustainability and their connection to our local and global communities.

Many thanks to C-Dar Farm proprietor, and former Waldorf student, Ferdinand Vondruska for his generosity.
