Re-enrolment, staffing and program updates for 2020-2021

Spring is upon us, and like the plants working silently beneath the ground, our school has been preparing for the coming school year. This begins with program review, where teachers and administration examine the needs of our families and the programs and processes that serve them. Drawing on observation and feedback received from parents through our surveys and individual conversations, we ask where we have made gains and what needs more attention. We are deeply interested in meeting the needs of children today; these collaborative discussions bring life to our work in the classroom and office, and build joyful anticipation for the year ahead.

Recommitment packages will be sent to all currently enroled families on Monday, March 2. I wanted to reach out to parents who have questions about our programs and staffing for next year and invite you to have a conversation with me, or to join me for an upcoming coffee talk next Wednesday, March 4 or Monday, March 8.

We have introduced new program hours for preschool and are busy with program review in the Grades. Some of the areas we are examining include: bringing more regular physical education and games, scheduling time and improving resources for skills practice in language arts and math, music offerings for primary grades, and supporting the learning needs of students. Additionally, we have begun the search for a new Principal and are working to conclude the immigration process for Samantha de Leca in Grade 1. Many things remain in process, and we are happy to share the values and timelines that guide us as we work to bring our programs to fruition. I look forward to our conversations.
