Twice a year, at Christmas and in May, our school goes all-hands-on-deck to produce our community festivals. Why?
Our festivals invite the entire Squamish community to mark the seasons with us. There is nothing quite like these events, with classrooms completely transformed into magical scenes—and glorious scents floating in the air. Like little gnomes, people have been very busy: baking, crafting, decorating, rehearsing, building wreaths, making treasures for the pocket lady and ensuring all supplies are in order. There is a sense of excitement in the children and those preparing special crafts and surprises alike.
Waldorf alumni still come out to our fairs; some look forward to them for months. “I didn’t realize I was missing the best part of the Christmas Fair experience until I volunteered,” one dad told me. There is something about stepping completely out of your everyday to take part in the magic and lend a hand along the way. A huge thanks to all of our volunteers as we look forward to this weekend’s Christmas Fair.
