Experiential Workshops for Parents
“I wish that I could have attended a school like this,” is the most common comment we get from visitors and prospective parents. When planning this season’s events, teachers wanted to nurture parents by offering the excitement of self development and spark of new ideas. Adults, this parent series is for you, whether you are learning new skills like crochet or felting, or diving into mathematics Waldorf-style.
One of the four pillars of our strategic plan is teaching and learning excellence, and our vision for this pillar is very broad. Learning comes alive for students when it is alive for everyone involved: parents, teachers, administration, family members and those we interact with. This includes learning more about ourselves and each other, trying new things, learning from our mistakes, participating in the development and sharing of new ideas; in short, learning to change the world. This sounds like a lot of work, but learning is one of our chief sources of joy!
We do so many things for our children, and one of the finest things we can offer them is to be joyfully engaged in learning ourselves. I encourage you to participate in something that expands you as a person this year, something that helps you feel alive and connected, and to share your excitement with others. By doing so, you make the spark of learning in our community glow even brighter.

Crocheting for Parents—presented by Sibylle Wuethrich
Crochet is a wonderful way to practice presence with our children and build quiet times into your rhythm that will benefit children and parents alike. When we put our phones down and relax our minds with a soothing activity like crochet, our children are nurtured and can engage in self-directed play. Children are doubly nurtured when they see our joy in creating something new. Learn the basics of this craft in an engaging social night for parents.
Platonic Solids: Exploring the Geometry All Around Us—presented by karin burns
Geometry is a vast and beautiful form of mathematics that was the primary form of mathematics for over 2000 years. Philosophers and mathematicians have always been inspired by five 3-dimensional forms called the Platonic Solids. Learn how to draw these forms and rotate them in space using descriptive geometry.
