As the new school year approaches, it’s time to get back into a regular sleep routine – it’s the best thing you can do to make back-to-school week comfortable for the whole family.
Children (and adults) who regularly get an adequate amount of sleep have improved attention, behaviour, learning, memory, and overall mental and physical health.
Sleep guidelines:
• Children six to 12 years of age should sleep 9-12 hours
• Teenagers 13 to 18 years of age should sleep 8-10 hours
Parents need sleep too! Maybe it’s time to enforce some sleep rules for ourselves, particularly around devices. Check out this great 3-minute video with Simon Sinek about how smart phones and other devices negatively affect sleep, communication, imagination and relationships
