HALLOWE’EN 2021!

KINDERGARTEN & PRESCHOOL FAMILIES

Kindergarten and preschool families are invited to a magical Hallowe’en festival on Sunday, Oct. 31 from 6-7 pm. Older siblings can certainly come if you think they will still live into the magic of this age-appropriate and wholesome alternative. Children and parents are welcome to come in non-commercialized/media-based costumes. The Old Woman of the Woods will be awaiting the children, but keep this a secret not to spoil the surprise. Please have your child collect a ‘nature gift’ to put into the Old Woman’s pot. We will meet at the school parking lot, where we will have a gas fire and sing autumn and Hallowe’en songs. Please bring a mug and your favourite drink (such as tea, hot chocolate or apple cider). Families are requested to bring a carved Jack-O-Lantern on Friday, Oct. 29 at pick-up. This will help us light the path to find the Old Woman of the woods. Mark it well so you can take it home with you at the end. RSVP to bego@squamishwaldorf.com. In the meantime, you might want to check out this sweet little Halloween song with your little ones!

GRADES HALLOWE’EN CELEBRATION

The grades will celebrate Hallowe’en by carving pumpkins on Thursday, Oct. 28 in the afternoon. Students are asked to bring a pumpkin, knife, and cutting board to school on Wed. Oct. 27. Please label your items with masking tape. The upper grades students will be paired up to help the lower grades complete their carving safely and successfully. Pumpkins will be sent home after our celebration Friday. Grades students may bring a costume to school on Friday the 29th. Please do not arrive in costume or face makeup. We will change into costumes at first recess and have some fun activities and games after that. We ask that all costumes embody creativity, fun and wonder and stay away from scary, blood, gore, masks or weapon-like objects. We also ask that parents not send any treats that day, as we will celebrate with special games and have a fun visit with the Grade 6-7 “haunted house” instead!
